October
23 was the troop's first Eagle Project workday. Twenty three
individuals supported Josh's work to help the U S Fish &
Wildlife Service manage the white tail dear population on Mason
Neck State Park/ Elizabeth Hartwell Refuges.

Josh arrives early on the
crisp autumn morning to set up a sign in table for volunteers..
Right on schedule, volunteers
begin to arrive at 8:30 a.m.
The volunteers sign in.
Gear is issued and Josh
conducts a radio check with his team leaders.
Team leader Erik and Daniel
discuss what language to speak to Josh.
A total of twenty-three
volunteers will rotate in and out of three teams of "marker
cleaners & brush clearers".
Josh provides a final
orientation to teams as they disperse into the woods.
Along this half mile leg of
the boundary, orange post with green reflective tape will be
located, cleaned, replaced (if required) and brush cleared to
permit a five foot wide park vehicle to drive the perimeter.
Erik's team will work from Tree Stand Road to Gunston Road,
Ben's team Tree Stand Road toward the Great Marsh and Brandon's
Team from the Great Marsh back toward Tree Stand Road.
