Troop 2215

Troop 2215  obtained its first charter in October 2007 after some experienced Scouts and Scouters observed numerous homeschooled, scout aged, young men were not participating in the scouting movement. The organizers requested and received permission to use their troop number "2215" to encourage its members to:

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Color Guard opens Nationals vs Phillies game in Nationals Stadium - May 2009. Our charter organization is "the Friends of Troop 2215" or the supportive parents of the boys in the troop.
The troop strives to support the homeschooling efforts of its families and the homeschooling schedules of its families permit the troop to participate in numerous exciting otherwise unavailable experiences.
It is an active outdoor troop and frequently gets a jump on camping weekends by not having to wait until public school is out. We are able to get out of town early on one Friday each month avoiding rush hour traffic and are often able to set up camp before it gets dark.

Merit badges are self contained unit studies and many of them are well suited to complement writing-, math- and science-centered academics.
Homeschooling dads can enjoy an active role in their sons' educational experience here providing behind the scenes mentoring (as Scoutmasters and Committee members) on camping and high adventure events. They also form a support group regarding homeschooling matters and just bringing up boys in general.
The troop believes that living by the Scout Oath and Law is conducive to maintaining a wholesome atmosphere anchored in a Biblical world view. Troop meetings, outdoor events and community service projects are conducted accordingly.
